Climate Change and Our Planet

I’m sure we’ve all seen the TikTok’s “proving” that climate change is natural, and our planet will heal itself. While part of this is true, the planet is naturally heating up, we’ve prevented it from being able to NATURALLY cool itself down. Many people think climate change is just our planet heating up until it starts the burn up and we all die in the flames. However, this is wildly untrue.
When we emit fossil fuels and gas into the atmosphere, it doesn’t simply float away into the universe. It gets stuck in the atmosphere and starts to bunch up. Our planet will continue to heat up because of all the extra CO2 we’re emitting (roughly 30 millions tons a year), however the air pollution that comes from the tailpipes of cars and ends of gas leaf blowers will float up into the sky and bunch up. Eventually, sometime in the near future— possibly in the next 10 years, this pollution will collect up so much that it will form an opaque barrier in our atmosphere and block out the sun.
Now, let’s pause right there and take a trip down memory lane back to the 1960s. During the Cold War, the biggest fear was that nukes would destroy everything. However, even if you managed to survive the blasts, that wasn’t the last of it. The fear was that the pollution caused by the explosion would rise into the atmosphere and block out the sun, causing a nuclear winter. This phenomenon is almost identical to the results we’re expected to get if we keep emitting fossil fuels into the atmosphere.
So, the planet heating up and causing heat waves to evaporate our water is only the beginning. If we don’t stop emitting fossil fuels and pollution into our atmosphere, we WILL put ourselves into a nuclear winter which will kill off every living thing on earth.
